HACHIKO: A DOG'S TALE... A TRUE STORY OF LOYALTY

Someone help me because I can't see... I cried my eyes out during this film. This is the (based on a true) story about a boy and his dog; well, a man and his dog... okay, Richard Gere and his dog. Gere is a professor living in small town where everybody knows everybody else. One night coming home from work on the train he finds a literally irresistible dog, an Akita, wandering about with no owner in sight. He takes the dog home until the owner can be located and we know what happens then. The Professor develops a great bond with his new friend. There are subtle hints that the family may have lost a young son which Hachi seems to help heal.  Some years down the line, after being used to accompanying his owner to and from work, one evening the professor doesn't come home. This is NOT a spoiler, they show it in the preview. The professor dies.

WENDY AND LUCY

WENDY AND LUCY: SEE WENDY, SEE LUCY, SEE THEM WALK... (YAWN)
I love Michelle Williams. I love dogs. But I didn't love wasting my time; watching them walking, living homeless, shoplifting, walking some more. It may be this genius indie film, but I didn't like it. I broke my rule of never watching films with dogs in it (case in paint: Marley and Me) and this film proved just as disappointing. She seemed to be going somewhere, but this film went nowhere for me. If that wasn't enough, the ending sucked enough to destroy any good parts in this film.
No Bite: I expected more.

MARLEY AND ME: Quick Bite

MARLEY AND ME... HAVE TISSUES READY
This movie broke too many of my film reviewer rules: 1) Never see a movie with a dog in it. Never. Especially if it is about said dog. 2) See all Owen Wilson films no matter the reviews. 3) Avoid Jennifer Aniston films. 4) NEVER see a movie about a dog.
Based on real life, we follow the story of Josh and Jennifer Grogan, (Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston) writers for different Florida newspapers. True to form, their lives flow with a certain pace, marriage, house, family, careers; which includes an adorable puppy named Marley. I envisioned more of a light movie, but along with the obvious comedy came the drama and it surprisingly was done equally as well. Slowly we get sucked into their lives that we don't realize how much we actually care about them toward the end of the film. The end of the film is strong and based on real life, not the Disney typical happy endings. I fully recommend this film for both dog lovers and haters.
BITE: A sweet and believable story about the twists and turns in real life.
