Arlington Steward: I have an offer to make. If you push the button, two things will happen. First, someone, somewhere in the world, whom you don't know, will die. Second, you will receive a payment of one million dollars. You have 24 hours.
Somebody get me a cigarette fast because I have just been thoroughly mind f#&*ed! Maybe if had more Tang and sat through more Twilight Zone episodes in the '70's I could have made better sense of this film. I won't go into much detail except the year is 1976 and this nice Virginia suburban family is having money troubles. However, that's about to change.
Arlington Steward: There are always consequences.
On the other hand (she had five fingers... but not five toes!) the message at the end of this Afterschool Special is fairly simple; be nice to each other. Well, that and don't trust strange men with half a face. For a bad movie it sure rented out quick and it also kept my foremost attention. It was hard to look away, even to polish my nails, because there were so many clues and hints and nods and winks and whistles that you have to watch with rapt attention. At other times, through, it was incredibly slow placed and Cameron Diaz's why-wasn't-I-cast-in-the-Blind-Side accent grows weary on the ears. For a cheap thrill with not a lot of blood and gore it was a good watch. The only award winners here are for the Razzies but it doesn't make the film any less fun to watch. This film could easily turn into a cult hit. It was suspenseful and thrilling in the thriller sense of the word. SO many psychological twists and turns and bells and whistles but it keeps you involved, and isn't that what we have come to want from our living room box?
Bite: Not the best acting or movie but mind bending and attention grabbing.
