EVERYBODY'S FINE... NOT!
Doddering widower, Frank Goode, (Robert De Niro) plans a gala party for his adult children and everybody cancels. Did he offend? No. He's too clueless to offend. His children are all talking to each other, but nobody is talking to him. So, get goes on the road to make a personal visit to each one of his ungrateful too-busy-with-life-to-talk-to-dad spawn.
All are usually good actors as a rule: Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale, Sam Rockwell; however together, they all come off as terrible people. With each child he visits, Goode and the select child confronts some sort of life issue in the matter of hours that the visits last. When they do share the screen there is no feeling of family, but of a few actors who are just hanging out for a few thousand dollars a day. De Niro has seen better days. His performance is fine, but he is capable of such strong and more challenging roles, this one rang hollow. It wasn't a terrible film. It was simply just fine.
Nibble: Waste of talent and time. Watch for it on the Lifetime channel soon.
