THE LOVELY BONES: SURPRISINGLY LOVELY

Nobody notices when we leave. I mean, the moment when we really choose to go. At best you might feel, a whisper or the wave of a whisper, undulating down. My name is Salmon, like the fish. First name: Susie.
I was 14 years old, when I was murdered on December 6th 1973.
I was here for a moment, and then I was gone.

Yes, a movie about a young girl who is murdered right off the bat and the killer goes on about his life and it is still a lovely movie. It is gruesome as well. Just the previously mentioned plot line is creepy, to say the least, and squirmy to sit through. The imagery and illusion of her murder is much more horrific than any slasher film full of fake blood could ever hope to be.

THE STEPFATHER: WHO'S YOUR DADDY NOW?

A remake of the 1987 thriller by the same name with more skin shots. It was a disappointment to see Dylan Walsh who I adored in Nip/Tuck feel that he had to show the "bad guy" part of his acting chops. Pretty much of a waste of film.

No bite: May have well been a movie about garlic.

THE LODGER

THE LODGER: WHAT A THRILLING MOVING DAY                  Nothing like a good old fashioned murder mystery. This one involves a Jack the Ripper copy cat in West Hollywood which is the same size area as where the Ripper murdered in London. Alfred Molina is Detective Manning who has made it his priority to solve a string of murders that were once attributed to a man who was sentenced to death on his watch. At the same time a mysterious lodger (Simon Baker) pays a generous amount of cash to rent out the cottage from a young couple, particularly exciting the odd woman (Hope Davis) who holds some sort of eccentric secret. The question is do these two events act independently from one another or is there some sort of connection between them?
